Art Park
- Art Park.
"Welcome to the world of Artpark. Here on this picturesque New
York State Park, high atop the Niagara River Gorge, a
magnificent celebration of the arts happens every summer.
Since its formal opening on July 25, 1974, Artpark has
successfully forged a new role for the arts in leisure. Artpark
is unique as a public park and as a space for art. There is
nothing like it - anywhere.
As one of North America's most innovative summer art festivals,
Artpark offers a full spectrum of engaging entertainment; from
productions of immortal Broadway musicals, swinging big band
concerts and celebrity performances in the Mainstage Theater; to
free concerts, music and cultural festivals in the Outdoor
Amphitheater. Created especially with the family in mind,
Artpark also offers art, theater, and video camps for youth, and
a variety of family programs on weekends. The park also includes
numerous hiking trails, nature sites, fishing docks and picnic
areas. There's something for everyone at Artpark!
This is the Artpark idea: to take the finest in performing and
visual art and make them accessible to everybody. Artpark also
seeks to foster an understanding and awareness of the many and
varied forms of art and art makers. Since its inception, it has
served as an active prototype for a truly public art.
Here in this idyllic setting, you are welcome to relax and play,
enjoy great theater performances, discover art, and perhaps,
discover the artist in yourself."

"The world has been beating a path to the Buffalo Niagara region
since shortly after Father Louis Hennepin became the first European
to describe the prodigious cadence of water that is the mighty
Falls in 1678. That early trickle of tourists became a steady stream
after the completion of the Erie Canal in 1825 and a torrent when
the railroad linked Western New York with points east. Today,
millions of tourists from around the world continue to come by
plane, train and automobile to experience the majesty of Niagara
Falls. While here, increasing numbers of visitors are making the
20-minute drive to nearby Buffalo, attracted by its growing
reputation as a home to great art, architecture and cultural
attractions."

Map from MapPoint. "Our 23.5 acre urban zoo has the
distinguished honor of being the third oldest zoo in the United
States (est. 1875), and it houses some of the world's most exotic,
endangered, and even local wildlife. At the Zoo, animals move freely
in large and modest enclosures with trees, streams, pools, and other
natural-like features. We house a wide variety of animals
representing all corners of the earth and have even been known to
occasionally invite a traveling koala or white alligator."
